What does “online booking” really get you?

Compare booking forms, confirmed appointments, and the plans you actually need. A practical starting point for small residential cleaning businesses.

Research checked November 4, 2026 · Documentation-based comparison

A request is different from a confirmed booking.

A booking request collects the customer's details and preferred time. You still need to review it and confirm the job. Instant booking lets the customer reserve an available appointment directly. Decide which you want before comparing apps.

Jobber's documentation distinguishes request forms, assessment bookings, and direct job bookings. Its direct job booking flow creates a one-off job; repeat-customer scheduling is a separate workflow. Read Jobber's booking documentation ↗

Before choosing any tool, check whether a customer can reserve a repeating cleaning series, or whether you must create that series after the first request. We have not yet tested that behavior across these three products.

What the official documentation says

Follow a customer from request to repeat clean.

ZenMaid: collect the request, then convert it.

ZenMaid describes booking submissions as inquiries. With the date/time and recurrence fields included, the owner can convert a recurring inquiry into a subscription that appears repeatedly on the calendar. Its form guide says the calendar is not a live availability calendar. Treat a customer's preferred time as something to review, rather than a guaranteed open slot.

BookingKoala: configure the booking rules.

Starter lists customizable booking forms where customers choose services, prices, and availability. The scheduling documentation explains how future appointments in a recurring service are generated. Settings matter: do not assume every future date has already been assigned or confirmed simply because a repeat frequency was selected.

Its unassigned-folder guide also documents a choice between moving one booking and all future appointments. That supports a specific documented workflow; we have not independently tested the full rescheduling experience.

Jobber: distinguish the first job from repeat visits.

Jobber supports request forms, assessment bookings, and direct job bookings. A direct job booking creates a one-off job; a recurring job is configured separately. Its visit editor lets owners apply certain changes to one visit or update future visits. This is useful documentation for a repeat-cleaning workflow, but it does not establish that a new customer can reserve an entire recurring series through the public booking form.

Ask for these four answers.

Use this checklist when reviewing a demo or speaking with the vendor. These are checks to make, not tests we have completed.

  1. Is this a request or a confirmed appointment?
Check what the customer sees after submitting.
  2. Who creates the repeat schedule?
Check whether the customer or office sets up future visits.
  3. Can one visit move on its own?
Check what happens to the rest of the series and its reminders.
  4. What is the full bill?
Include your team, messages, billing commitment, and required plan.
Our recommendation from the documents

Choose the booking workflow before the brand.

Investigate ZenMaid if you want to review inquiries before turning them into repeat appointments. Its documented workflow fits that approach, and booking forms are listed on Pro.

Investigate BookingKoala if a configurable customer booking website is your priority. Its $27 Starter plan includes booking forms and up to five providers; check the recurring-generation rules and any extra features you need.

Investigate Jobber if online booking is part of a broader quoting, invoicing, and job-management workflow. The $199 Connect figure above is specifically for five users, month to month, with automated reminders—not the minimum price for online booking alone.

If your current calendar and payment tools already work well, you may not need another subscription yet.

Research method and limits

Researched from official vendor pricing pages and help documentation, checked November 4, 2026. We have not independently tested these products or verified their performance. These are documented capabilities, not hands-on test results. We do not score ease of use, reliability, or support quality. Where documentation does not settle a question, we say so. All links go to the original sources.

During signup research, ZenMaid's activation screen required a card and showed a default $39/month charge after the 14-day trial unless canceled. We stopped before activation. Confirm the terms shown in your own signup flow before proceeding.
